Not Even God Loves Me is the true story of Michael Thompson, a man whose childhood was shaped by abandonment, neglect, abuse, reform schools, foster homes, homelessness, violence, addiction, incarceration, and the belief that even God had forgotten him.
As a young boy growing up in San Antonio, Michael learned early that survival often meant depending on himself. After his father left and his family fell apart, he experienced homelessness, institutionalization, abuse, rejection, and years of anger that would follow him into adulthood. His search for escape eventually led through violence, heroin addiction, prison, broken relationships, and a life increasingly defined by the wounds he had carried since childhood.
But this is not simply a story about suffering.
It is a testimony of transformation.
Through experiences that forced him to confront his past, his choices, and the belief that he was beyond love or redemption, Michael ultimately encountered the Christian faith in a way that changed the direction of his life. The same man who once entered prison in chains would later return through prison gates with an entirely different purpose.
Raw, direct, and deeply personal, Not Even God Loves Me explores what abandonment can do to a child, how trauma can shape a lifetime, and how faith, forgiveness, grace, and redemption can reach someone who has spent decades believing he is beyond saving.
The manuscript presents Michael's story deliberately without excessive polish or distance; he describes it as a story told "straight," based on his recollections, with certain names changed to protect people's privacy.
