A children's book written by a pediatric speech-language pathologist with a focus on functional first words and caregiver language tips.
"Nixon's Engine Words" follows Nixon and his mother as they enjoy an ordinary but language-rich day together. During each activity they experience together Nixon uses an Engine Word to communicate his wants and needs to his mother. Engine Words are powerful, functional first words that fuel your child's communication skills. They are words like "want" and "help" that can stand alone to communicate your child's wants and needs and be generated into longer utterances as your child grows.
