Maxine Gross is a prominent community leader and historian from the historic African American neighborhood of Lakeland in College Park, Maryland. A fifth-generation resident of the community, she is widely recognized for her advocacy in preserving Lakeland's history and pursuing restorative justice for the harm caused by 1970s urban renewal.
She is the founder of Legacy Circle LLC and the author of two children's books, Rushing, Rising and Painted Rust and Neda's Song. Through her work, Maxine celebrates everyday people and inspires readers to use lessons from the past to build stronger, healthier communities. She is also the founder of Legacy Center LLC.
