"So fresh, so frightening, so hauntingly familiar." Fran Lock "Intense, intelligent and intoxicating." Maggie Sawkins Described as a poet who "knows the ropes", Alan Humm takes us through a wide variety of topics - love; parenthood; foreign travel; David Bowie; Charlie Chaplin; his drunken father; pop music; Donald Trump; D-Day - in an impressive variety of styles. Here are sonnets, sestinas, haikus, reverse haikus, blank verse, free verse, pantoums and many more, all put in the service of what Fran Lock describes as a "rare patience and generosity of attention". Humm covers the waterfront with confidence and style. His is a distinct and assured voice that, in the babel of modern poetry, rings out loud and clear.
