About

Dear readers, this brief synopsis was prepared to provide a background for the first book of the Mousetree series. If you have not yet read Mousetree, The Beginning, Book One, I encourage you to do so. I will try to avoid spoiling Book One as I compose it.

Book One introduces the two main characters, Mirelda and Mindy, describing their activity one typical morning in late summer. The girls are sent on an ordinary errand to buy an ingredient for Grannymouse to make a batch of cookies. While performing this task, they are distracted by a sound coming from the road that passes by their beloved peaceful home, Mousetree. Curiosity sends the two to investigate the source of the strange sound. Upon their discovery, Mirelda and Mindy are inadvertently plucked up from their ordinary lives and each other and thrust into quite unordinary environments and circumstances far from home.
With an objective of finding their way back home to Mousetree, the two embark on separate adventures, exposed to life lessons, good and bad, through their introduction to and interaction with a host of colorful characters and events.
Told through the eyes, ears and voice of a narrator, the storyline is interwoven in a manner to stimulate curiosity. The storyline introduces concepts of human characteristics that are warm and kind with empathy and understanding, but at times dark and intolerant. Hopefully, the scenes will provoke discussion with adults, or more mature readers and listeners. Although written decades ago, the theme are amazingly relevant to today.
The writer, Michael D. Malone, expresses delight and gratitude for the audience "taking a chance" on reading and discussing Mousetree, The Beginning, Book One, and invites readers to continue following the story in Mousetree, Fire and Water, Book Two.
Enjoy!
