Political and government allegiances and norms continue to change. Master Spy Elda Ainsworth is hunted by a mysterious black ops team with ties to the United States government. A patriot to her core, but no longer part of US intelligence, she works to rebuild her team headquarters outside of the United States, while retaining a presence within the US.
Her Cold War nemesis, Tosh Chelovek, is missing, presumed dead. The Kremlin has issued a hit order on his team. Tosh surfaces in Italy and asks Elda to help rescue his agents who are fleeing Moscow. Estranged from his mother country, Tosh joins forces with Elda to rebalance the odds and to do what is right for their countries.
Elda and Tosh train and empower their team members to be prepared for a time when the team's two mentors may no longer be with them. Their agents are imbued with techniques from the Cold War, combined with high technology apps and robotics.
The spies struggle to find the ethics within a world that appears to be driven by avarice instead of patriotism. Each individual works to combine newly endowed individual empowerment and watching each other's six. This new organization kicks off Operation Potlatch, a mission to help distribute the wealth and encourage balance and fairness.
