Milly

This romance novel begins by introducing us to a young Englishman, who had just arrived in the iron and coal region of Alabama to take charge of extensive manufacturing and mining interests belonging to his family. During his hunting trip, he accidentally stumbled upon a young woman named Milly, who in his eyes is described as: "She had the grace of outline common to wild things, and there was that half-pathetic, half-glad beam in her face that appeals to a man's love of the innocent and his pity of the weak."
