Failed entrepreneur and finance executive assistant Clarise Rogers, and celebrated travel correspondent Lizy Logan, lead separate lives in New York, until their paths cross during an unforgettable weekend in MidCoast Maine that intertwines them forever.
When Amber, an opportunistic aspiring model, attaches herself to Australian chef Simon-Lizy's ex fling-and shows up in Maine with him, she wastes no time in unleashing her sexually manipulative agenda, which has ripple effects Clarise never saw coming, and threatens her new relationship with Thatcher. And when Lizy's long-standing precarious relationship history with Magus reaches a turning point, she struggles to get out of her own way and allow herself the true love she's denied herself all her life, when she sees her producer, Bill, in a new light.
Clarise and Lizy contend with these dilemmas, and more, as their once parallel lives are suddenly bound as one.
