About
"Over the past 24 hours, I've watched 16 episodes of two different TV shows on Netflix. Oh, and I've meditated for 20 minutes. This isn't my usual routine. It's Sunday evening following a particularly strenuous week of missed deadlines, rude financial awakenings, and 3 a.m. wake-up calls from a rogue fire alarm. So I retreated to fictional melodramas to escape the "real" ones my mind had concocted.
Twenty-four sorry hours later, I emerged from my TV coma to the same shallow breathing and frantic worrying that punctuated my thoughts before I grabbed the popcorn and hit the power button on my remote. I may have tuned myself out-choosing to treat my thoughts and emotions like villains worse than those on the screen-but that didn't make my feelings or fixations go away.
We can't avoid life. However, with meditation, we can start to notice habitual ways of thinking that pigeonhole much of our experience."
As little as it is, Meditation Routine — Clear your mind, Reset and Reboot, by Yanjuan Lou is a guide to the basic principles of meditation, brief history of Chinese meditation, why you should meditate, different ways we can meditate, and how meditation can positively affect both physical and mental health. Stretching from productivity and focus to stress and anxiety relief, sleep, weight-loss, personal relationships e.t.c. Yanjuan super-imposes this old practice into our modern lives and takes you on a journey into mindfulness.
In this book, created especially for beginners, Yanjuan offers a straightforward, step-by-step method for bringing meditation into your life.
What you will learn:
-Meditation as a cure for stress
-Chinese meditation
-A step by step simple and pratical guide on how to meditate
-Cultivating the art of mindfulness
-How meditation can improve your lifestyle
The point of these teachings has nothing to do with becoming a Buddhist or learning any Eastern ceremonies or rituals. The point is that you will learn how to work with meditation in order to find benefits from it in your life. When we take time to quiet ourselves, we can all sense that our lives could be lived with greater compassion and awareness.
