A Masterpiece of Tolstoy. "He, like all people who live with nature and know want, was patient and could wait calmly for hours, even days, without feeling either alarm or vexation." Master and Man is the story of Vasili Andreevich and his servant Nikita, trapped for the night in a snowdrift, struggling to survive against the gathering intensity of a storm.
