About

Robert Repino concludes the War with No Name trilogy with the final masterpiece, Malefector. Even an apocalypse can come to an end.

For the first time since the Colony began its campaign of genocide, the survivors of the War with No Name finally have a fleeting chance to achieve a lasting peace. For both the humans and the animals, the conflict has left deep scars. But it has also allowed both sides to demonstrate feats of courage and compassion that were never possible before the Change. Species once divided into predators and prey, masters and slaves, can at last join together--to learn, to rebuild, and to point all life in a new direction.

And while some are dimly aware of this hard-earned opportunity, others remain fixed in the past. Those who resist have good reason to do so: they have been left behind in the years since the war, and have become convinced that survival depends on reverting to the old days. After years of bloodshed, in which the warriors have determined the course of events, only those with hope in the future can now lead the way.

A fragile peace between humans and animals is threatened by skirmishes between various wolf clans and beaver gangs in and around the city of Hosana. Meanwhile, on board the ship the Vesuvious, D'Arc and the crew find carcasses of enormous flying ants in the middle of the ocean, and Mort(e) plans a spectacular heist. Robert Repino grew up in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania. After serving in the Peace Corps, he earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College. His fiction has appeared in The Literary Review, Night Train, Hobart, The Coachella Review, and more. He lives in New York and works as an editor for Oxford University Press. Malefactor concludes the War with No Name series, and follows the novels D'Arc and Mort(e) and the novella Culdesac.
