In Mail-Order Bride Substitute, Olivia is desperate to escape the damaging rumors and judgment that have followed her despite coming from a wealthy and respected family. Longing for a clean slate and a place where she can start over, she impulsively agrees to take her friend Sylvia's place as a mail-order bride after Sylvia backs out of her arrangement with Montana rancher Riley Shannon.
Olivia expects a practical marriage without emotional entanglements-something that suits her just fine after everything she's endured. But when she arrives in Montana, she quickly discovers Riley wants nothing to do with her.
Riley has already been burned once by loving a wealthy woman who couldn't accept the hardships of ranch life, and he has no intention of making the same mistake again. Seeing Olivia step off the train in expensive clothes and refined manners immediately raises every wall around his heart. Certain she could never belong on his rugged ranch, he refuses her offer outright.
But Olivia refuses to give up. Determined to prove she is more than the spoiled society woman he assumes her to be, she follows him to the ranch and sets out to earn both her place there and his trust.
As sparks fly between the stubborn rancher and the determined substitute bride, both must confront their past hurts, pride, and fears before they can discover whether love is worth risking again.
At its heart, the story is a charming frontier romance about second chances, mistaken assumptions, and finding acceptance in the most unexpected places.
