From a former MSNBC host and NAACP award-winning podcaster, a deeply personal narrative for Black women about their well-being and place in a failing democracy.
Not only are Black women not being centered, we're being silenced. There are fewer conscious Black women on TV and in leadership roles across all industries because a MAGA invented culture war has made Black women the face of the enemy. As a result, our history is being whitewashed and our contribution downplayed. Efforts persist to erase our experiences entirely. We are fighting for love, our lives, and livelihoods while a burning America continues to stand on our shoulders as it has throughout time.
In Love Me Black, journalist Tiffany D. Cross brings to life the souls of Black women today. This is the story of how we, women of accomplishment and endurance, in the face of a failing Republic, dwindling opportunity, and elusive love relentlessly use our humanity to preserve ourselves, our culture, and civilization.
In a hard-hitting cultural analysis and penetrating prose, Cross takes you on an intimate journey of the internal and external battles we are all collectively facing. With a pithy blend of humor and pathos, she illuminates the personhood and critiques the politics of being a Black woman. From a break-up where she cried the entire flight from Miami to New York, to her tumultuous exit from MSNBC, and a call from her hospital sickbed that put her health and career on the line, Cross narrates not just her story, but our story.
Bold and provocative, Cross invites Black women to go from hopeless to hopeful as we fight to achieve our dreams, secure the love we deserve, and preserve the home we built. We must repair our personhood and society, and that starts with giving ourselves something to believe in. Tiffany D. Cross is a journalist, TV host, podcast host, author, and speaker. Tiffany previously hosted The Cross Connection on MSNBC where she averaged 4.6 million viewers a month. Currently, she is the current co-host of the NAACP Image Award-winning podcast, Native Land Pod and host of ACross Generations. She is graduate of Clark Atlanta University. She splits her time between Washington, DC and New York City.
"Few people have the courage to speak honestly and face the consequences. Tiffany has always been willing to do just that. Love Me Black is her unplugged!"-Jelani Cobb, The New Yorker "Tiffany has a compelling story to tell. It is both unique and familiar. It is both political and personal. It is both timely and, quite frankly, overdue."-Wesley Lowery, Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and New York Times bestselling author of American Whitelash "This story comes at the right time, during this moment in history, told by the right person. Tiffany is as unfiltered on our screens as she is in written word. Every woman I know will relate to Tiffany's testimony. Her story is theirs. And they have been waiting with bated breath."-Michael Harriot, New York Times bestselling author of Black AF History "Every Saturday we tuned in to Tiffany because she helped us contextualize what was happening in our turbulent nation, leaving us always smarter and more informed. In these uncertain times, we need her voice, her wit, her analysis, her compassion and her heart more than ever and I cannot wait to see her new book in the world."-Nikole Hanna Jones, author of The 1619 Project "Tiffany's story is unique because she's bold enough to tell it as someone in the public eye. Yet it's so incredibly common because it's the truth of Black women everywhere. She is us."-Tarana Burke, Activist & Founder of the #MeToo movement "My audience loves Tiffany's way of speaking truth when it comes to this country and our politics. I can't
wait to help usher this important book into the world!"-JoyAnn Reid, MSNBC Host "Our truth is often a danger to our careers but that never stopped Tiffany from speaking it loudly and unapolo
