Rutherford Peacock has it all, looks, brains, money-and a history no one seems to know about. He's about to become the new town Marshal of Reno, Nevada, and it's up to him and Longarm to find out who murdered the last one.
But with one eye on Peacock and another out for a killer, Longarm still finds time for an old flame. Of all the women he's known, he never forgot the rancher's daughter from Reno.
He might just fall for the beauty-if he doesn't have to cuff her, that is.
