Think there's just one fairy tale with a girl who meets danger in disguise? Think again! Cultures all around the world have their own Little Red Riding Hood stories. Visit Germany, Italy, and Taiwan, and find out whose sick grandmother is a tiger, and who is saved not by a kind hunter but by a talking river.
"I liked all of these stories and I liked finding the things that were the same and different. I think all kids would enjoy reading or listening to these stories."
San Francisco Book Review
"STARRED REVIEW! A falcon swoops down and steals a ruby slipper from the banks of the Nile; a beautiful young girl lies in a coffin hanging from a tree. Sound familiar? Probably not, and, that's the fun of these volumes, each presenting multicultural variations of stories we all know. . . .Illustrations capture beautifully the particular cultural ambience of each tale. . . .My second grade team has already deemed these books an indispensable addition for a curriculum that asks students to study folktale variations. Highly Recommended."
School Library Connection
"...fantastic for broadening the horizons of fairy tale aficionados. . . .The book can be enjoyed in its entirety, which makes for a great opportunity to compare the different stories, or just one story at a time-a nice option on those nights you need to accelerate bedtime."
