When Lexi starts at Wood Academy, she tells herself this is her fresh start. New uniform, new classrooms, new chances. But as the weeks go on, Lexi realises that not everyone plays fair - and some friendships come with hidden rules. The unkindness isn't always loud. Sometimes it's whispers, looks, rumours, and little moments that make you feel small. Lexi tries to keep going. She keeps her head down. She tells herself it will pass. But inside, her confidence begins to crack, and each day feels like a careful balancing act between getting through school and holding on to who she really is. With the steady support of her family and a few trusted friends, Lexi starts to rebuild her strength in simple ways - taking control of her thoughts, writing down the truth when words feel too heavy, and learning that speaking up doesn't have to mean shouting. When things finally reach a breaking point, a difficult decision is made: Lexi must leave Wood Academy so she can heal properly and feel safe again. But Lexi's story doesn't end with fear - it ends with growth. As her voice returns, so does her light. And when she notices another child standing alone, Lexi makes a choice that proves just how far she's come. Lexi's Light is a warm, hopeful middle-grade story about bullying, resilience, kindness, and finding your voice - reminding young readers that they are not alone, and that even the quietest light can guide others out of the dark.
