Growing up in Chicago, Debbie Bell and her brother had a close-knit family and always relied on each other through good times and bad. Even after they each married and raised their own children, they never lost their special bond. But on the day Debbie's brother was falsely accused and sentence 40 years in prison was devastating. Leave Us Alone and Let Us Shine discusses the tragic circumstances surrounding Debbie's brothers case and offers a true and correct version of that day's events. She digs into the past and unearths evidence directly refuting the accusations made in another book on the subject. In addition, she uses several examples to show her brothers true character and how his situation resulted from being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Debbie also discusses the intense grieving process she underwent as a result of his long sentence and how his family now must live without him. Through her intense faith in God and her inner strength, Debbie paints a portrait of how one family has taken tragedy and turned it into triumph. Honest and heart wrenching, Leave Us Alone and Let Us Shine tells of one woman's heartache and how she found healing through the power of God.
