Leading Safely: Safety Leadership from the Top is a practical executive guide to health and safety leadership for directors, senior managers, executives, trustees and aspiring organisational leaders.
Written by Robert Porter, the book moves safety beyond policies, statistics and compliance paperwork and places it where it belongs: within leadership decisions, organisational culture, governance and accountability.
Drawing on practical operational leadership principles, Leading Safely explores how senior decisions concerning resources, priorities, incentives, organisational structure and assurance ultimately influence frontline risk. It examines governance, legal responsibility, significant risks, competent advice, organisational culture, worker involvement, wellbeing, fatigue, contractors, critical controls, auditing, board reporting, organisational change and crisis leadership.
The central principle is straightforward: what leadership repeatedly tolerates becomes the organisation's real policy.

Designed as both a professional reference and independent study companion, the book encourages leaders to challenge reassuring reports, ask better questions and seek evidence that critical controls are genuinely working.
