A country girl and her floppy-eared baby goat get ready to compete at the county fair. A pair of verbs on each spread highlight the silly antics of the two kids on the farm, and despite a few messes and mishaps along the way, their parallel actions build to a joyful ending at the fair. Useful for teaching beginning readers about homonyms and comparing word concepts, the colorful and expressive art highlights the different meanings of each word. The last installment of Linda Joy Singleton's trio of books about homonyms, this picture book celebrates farm life and rural living and is a great companion title to Crane & Crane and Sun & Son.
