In Michael Rosen's wonderfully humourous and poetic retelling of this classic tale, the impoverished Jack trades his cow for magical beans that sprout into a towering beanstalk. As he ascends the formidable vine, he discovers a castle inhabited by a menacing giant. In the chase that ensues, Jack manages to secure enough wealth to sustain himself, his mother and his village. Michael Rosen's lively, poetic retelling follows Jack up the magical beanstalk to face a fearsome giant and return home with enough treasure to save his family and village.
