It's Raining Fish

Manuel, a third-grade student, tries his best in his American classroom, even though learning English is hard for him. One day, he doesn't understand the lesson, but he still has to do the homework. He tells his family that Americans have weird customs, like "butterflies in the stomach." His mom thinks he got it wrong, but Manuel tries to do the homework anyway. This is a story about Manuel and the challenges faced by English Language Learners. It shows how hard it can be to learn a new language and how important it is to have support.
