Cold Hollow, a quaint town enveloped in a thick, oppressive fog. The fog transforms the familiar into something alien and foreboding, setting the stage for the unsettling events that follow. The usual crisp autumn air is replaced by a damp chill that seeps into the bones, muffling the everyday sounds of the town and creating an eerie, introspective atmosphere. As the town prepares for Halloween, the decorations and children's laughter, which would typically be cheerful, take on an eerie quality in the fog. The fog is not just a meteorological event but an extension of the unease that has settled over Cold Hollow. It distorts perceptions, plays tricks on the eyes, and encourages introspection, turning the town's predictable routines and neighborly familiarity into something fragile and unsettling.
