In a 17th-century England where clothworkers have the magical ability to sense good and evil in those who wear their products, and exposure to cloth affects those who wear it. Joan Weaver wants only to embark on her career and avoid an unwanted marriage. When her parents and suitor force her hand, Joan makes a bid to control her own future by demanding the right to start her journey toward becoming a master knitter. If Joan can survive her husband's cruelty, society's constraints, and her guild's demands, there's a chance she can achieve her dreams and maybe find love along the way.
