BROOKS
When seventeen-year-old Olympic snowboarder, Delta Jacobs walked into my office, I knew it would change my career forever.
I've made a name for myself as one of the best orthopedic surgeons in the country. I have a thriving practice and a handful of awards that say I'm excellent at what I do without getting attached to my patients.
Except, after three years, Delta has become the exception.
The world believes she has it all; beauty, spirit and a natural talent other athletes would kill for. I can see what others can't, though, and below the surface, Delta Jacobs is breaking apart.
I want to protect her, to fight for her, and for so long, that was enough. Until suddenly, it wasn't.
Now, I need more. I need to make my patient mine.
DELTA
I'm positive I'm not the only patient with a crush on Dr. Brooks Harrison.
Older, successful, and too gorgeous for his own good, I haven't been able to stop thinking about him from the first time I ended up on his exam table.
I know he's just doing his job, that the way he treats me isn't special, but I can't help it. Sometimes, he feels like the only person in my life who is looking out for me, the person, not the professional snowboarder.
For three years, I've kept the secret. I pretended I wasn't counting down the days until our appointments, or living for the moments I spent on his exam table.
Now, those appointments are coming a lot more often. I should be more worried about my career circling the drain, but as I spend more time with Doctor Harrison, I'm forced to question if snowboarding is what I really want.
Now I just need to convince my doctor to cross that forbidden line, to take a chance on us and a future that I now want more than Olympic glory.
