In 2016, David Hanig took a dose of psilocybin, hoping to attain penetrating insights. Instead, the drug opened a doorway in his mind, revealing years of repressed childhood trauma and leading to months of panic attacks and unrelenting anxiety. "In Every Breath a Prayer-a Journey of Healing in Verse and Prose" is a moving account that will hearten anyone attempting to overcome childhood trauma. Hanig offers a lyrical and poetic description of his two-year spiritual odyssey, as he emerged from profound darkness to illuminated grace.
Trauma can be difficult to grasp and even more difficult to explain to others. Hanig's poems provided him a vehicle to express his feelings and experiences. Half autobiography and half spiritual healing guide, this unique book employs narrative and poetic frames to promote healing and progress for those with challenging pasts.
