Want to learn Japanese independently, at your own speed? Then this is the book for you. It gives you a fun grounding in the language, and one that's accurate and practical: nothing you learn here is "watered down" or will ever need to be unlearned, should you decide to continue on with your Japanese studies in school or later life. The manga approach, with its speech bubbles and funny side remarks, makes the learning seem to fly. You're offered plenty of practice challenges to master alongside Emily, Nico, and Teo; everything from writing some characters, to saying simple Japanese sentences, to reading a letter that's completely in Japanese.
