Are you having a good day, enjoying the here and now, appreciating all that you have? OR ... Are you stressed, anxious and worrying about the future? Chances are it's the second one. But it doesn't have to be that way – Buddhism offers a truly life-changing point of view that can make everyday stress a thing of the past. But what is Buddhism anyway? Join renowned vegetarian chef Rose Elliot and a diverse group of people as they gather in her sitting room to learn about mindfulness meditation from the wise and witty Buddhist monk Rose has invited into her home. Brimming with inspiring insights and peppered with humour, I Met a Monk introduces mindfulness meditation and the simple core tenets of Buddhist teaching, showing how we can easily apply them to 21st-century life. Set out as an 8-week course, each chapter ends with a concise summary of key points and recommended exercises to help put the suggestions into practice. Part autobiography, part self-help book, I Met a Monk forms a series of workshops, structured into eight chapters that cover the weekly discussions held between a Buddhist monk, Rose, and a group of men and women, including a student, a hairdresser, a doctor and a grandmother, where they talk about the Buddhist way to finding happiness, freedom and peace 'I hope that as you read this book you too may feel you are taking part, and that it may be as life-changing for you as it was for me.' -Rose Elliot
