You and your spouse have been married for years. You have prayed together, sat in the same pew, built a life you are proud of, and read the same Bible. Have you ever studied it together closely enough to know what your spouse actually believes?
Sharing a Bible is not the same as studying it together. One spouse usually ends up leading while the other listens, or the whole exercise turns stiff and forced within a couple of minutes. How Couples Can Study the Bible Without Awkwardness gives you a way to study scripture side by side, without either of you leading and the other trailing behind. It teaches you how to read a passage the way it was written to be understood, ask each other questions that pull out an honest answer, and sit through the conversations most couples skip, forgiveness, intimacy, a difference in how eager each of you is to grow, without either of you shutting down.
This book contains 70 reflection questions that walk you and your spouse through the exact conversations most couples never have, so you finish each chapter knowing something true about your marriage you didn't know at the start.
If you put into practice what How Couples Can Study the Bible Without Awkwardness teaches, you'll:
• Know what your spouse believes about money, forgiveness, and raising children, stated in their own words
• Read scripture the way it was intended, using clear tools instead of jargon
• Handle the hard conversations your marriage has been circling for years
• Build a daily and weekly habit that holds up past the first excited week
You might be telling yourself your marriage already works, and a book like this sounds built for couples in trouble. It is not. It is built for a marriage like yours, one stable enough to go deeper instead of staying afloat. You might also wonder if your spouse will sit down and do this with you. Start with ten minutes and one short passage. Spouses who resist a big commitment can usually agree to something that short, and short mornings, kept regularly, carry a couple through the rest of the book.
