He was sentenced under California's "Three strikes and you're out" law, which calls for twenty-five years to life sentence for any third felony conviction (nonviolent/non-serious or violent/serious). Brother Cavin O'ferral had been, arrested for a possession of a ten dollars' worth of rock cocaine in his pocket on January 1, 1995. He had previously been, arrested for robberies and burglaries for which he served his time.
He is a father of 7 grown kids and grandfather of 13 grandchildren.
