About
Meet the Donut Dollies, the Red Cross volunteers whose mission was simple: to bring a touch of home to American soldiers. Amidst the chaos of war, these college-educated volunteers offered a friendly face, a listening ear, medical attention and a momentary escape from the horrors of combat. But their service came at a cost, both during the war and in the decades to follow.
From dodging sniper fire to witnessing the devastating effects of Agent Orange, these women endured traumas that would forever change them. Their stories, long overshadowed by the experiences of male soldiers, are finally brought to light in this compelling narrative.
Award-winning historian Richard Sand reveals the untold stories of these unsung heroes, exploring their experiences, their sacrifices, and the lasting impact of their time in Vietnam. Drawing on firsthand accounts, personal letters, and historical research, Hidden History: The Donut Dollies in Vietnam paints a vivid portrait of these remarkable women and their vital role in supporting the troops.
