In this groundbreaking analysis, renowned Chilean psychiatrist and consciousness pioneer Dr. Claudio Naranjo applies over three decades of transformational work to diagnose civilization's deepest ailments-and prescribe a cure that begins from within.
From violence and economic injustice to environmental destruction and social fragmentation, the symptoms of our global crisis are undeniable. But what if the root cause runs deeper than we imagine? Dr. Naranjo reveals that patriarchy-not just as an external system, but as a psychological virus operating within our own minds-lies at the heart of civilization's dysfunction.
Brilliantly weaving together insights from history, anthropology, religion, economics, education, and psychological development, Healing Civilization exposes how patriarchal patterns have shaped every aspect of human experience: our economies, media, institutions, relationships, and even our treatment of children and ourselves. This dominator mindset has created profound imbalances, severing us from essential aspects of our inner being and perpetuating cycles of harm across generations.
Yet this sobering diagnosis comes with profound hope. Dr. Naranjo offers a transformative vision for healing-one that integrates our "three brains": the head (Inner Father), the heart (Inner Mother), and the instincts (Inner Child). By bringing our inner family into balance, we can break free from patriarchal conditioning and become agents of genuine transformation. More than a critique of our current predicament, this is a practical guide for personal and collective renewal. Beginning with the re-education of children and extending to the reshaping of society itself, Dr. Naranjo provides both the inspiration and the tools needed to build a world that is truly meaningful and harmonious.
Because healing civilization is an inside job-and the future lies in our hands.
