How does a woman survive abuse, betrayal, abandonment, financial ruin, and rejection for her gender by the two most important men in her life? He Left, God Stayed reaches into these painful experiences through the insightful backdrop of Davis's own story of being abandoned by her pastor husband for the gay community and rejected by her earthly father for her gender. She has courageously written on a topic others hesitate to expose because of the shame it carries. But in doing so, she helps readers to discover God's unshakable love and thereby to rise from defeat and dismay and to flourish in life and faith like never before.
As the devastating events of her life unfolded, Annalee Davis learned that leaning into the pain and inviting God into the chaos brought hope and healing. She shares this process in her book, a true story of her journey from victimization to victory. He Left, God Stayed openly reveals the inner cries of every soul and how God hears and responds. Her questions, fears, and anxieties are universal to loss and suffering, yet, as she learns to mourn her losses and seek God's truth for her life, readers witness the emergence of the positive- hope, courage, joy and peace. Rev. Davis shares how she moved from a wounded child to a confident, capable adult called by God into ordained ministry.
