Silence isn't the absence of sound. It's where the deepest echoes gather strength. The portal to Velare has opened once more, and this time everyone has something to lose. Ford Montgomery barely escaped the mysterious realm with his niece Lily last time. Every minute counts as they plan their return to rescue Ford's brother Joshua and Lily's Uncle Peter. But Lily, drawn by newfound powers and the startling revelation of her true heritage among the Cliffers, has her own agenda.
Alongside Ava, Ford's producer and the woman who's slowly claiming his heart, Ford must plunge through the watery gateway beneath a submerged Texas town before the portal closes forever.
But the Velare they return to is fractured by war. Two ancient sects battle for supremacy while the Schade-a malevolent shadow force-grows more powerful with each passing day. And Ford is discovering a connection to the realm that may change everything he believes.
For Lily, Velare offers belonging and mastery of her emerging abilities. For Ford, it's a desperate race to reunite his family and a spiritual awakening he never saw coming. As loyalties are tested and prophecies unfold, Ford must choose: battle the Schade or get his family home.
