Arley Vox grew up riding shotgun in his father's delivery truck, learning to read people, play poker, and survive the hard edges of Nevada's desert roads and city back alleys. After his father's death, he reinvented himself-becoming a top student, earning a place in medical school, and eventually beginning a surgical residency in Boston, where he dedicated himself to critically ill patients and research.
Three years later, his life implodes. Police arrive at the hospital to arrest him for crimes he knows nothing about. Tipped off in advance, Arley flees, disguising himself and escaping to Worcester. There, he uncovers the charges: assault of a minor, drug distribution, and illegal narcotics possession. The alleged victim, sixteen-year-old Hailey Alden, lies in a coma, close to death. If she dies, Arley faces a murder charge.
On the run, Arley relies on the street smarts of his youth, knowing capture could come at any moment.
Back in Boston, the hospital's powerful chief of surgery, Dr. Randolph Richards, seizes the scandal for personal gain, taking control of Arley's well-funded research and publicly declaring him guilty.
Doubting the official narrative, the hospital board hires private investigator Yeva Marchenko. Her investigation uncovers a privileged group exploiting teenage girls through drugs and coercion. When Hailey attempted to escape, an overdose left her comatose-silencing her and leaving Arley to take the blame.
But Hailey survives.
When she awakens, she remembers everything.
Her testimony, combined with Marchenko's findings, exposes the truth, brings the real perpetrators to justice, and clears Arley of all charges.
