Growing Into a Man

Growing Into a Man is a coming-of-age story about Demaine, a young man searching for identity after losing his parents at a young age. Taken in by foster parents Ann and Richie, he is cared for but feels confined by their rules and struggles to believe he belongs. His grief and anger push him to act out, yet his rebellion only deepens his loneliness. Determined to face his past, he returns to his hometown of Dubuque to find his parents' burial site. Along the way he meets people who force him to confront his pain, open himself to love, and accept that his life is more than the legacy of loss. His journey shows that becoming a man is not about leaving the past behind, but about choosing to grow through it and learning to claim a place in the world.
