Growing As You Follow Jesus Six Essential Practices for a Growing Life with Christ
Following Jesus is more than making a one-time decision-it is learning to walk with Him every day.
After coming to faith in Christ, many believers sincerely want to grow but are not always sure what that growth looks like in everyday life. How do you develop a meaningful prayer life? How do you read the Bible in a way that changes you? What does genuine worship look like beyond Sunday services? Why does Communion matter? How do you put God's Kingdom first while managing the ordinary responsibilities of life? And how do you learn to depend on the Holy Spirit rather than simply relying on your own strength?
Growing As You Follow Jesus provides a practical, biblical pathway for developing the spiritual practices and priorities that help followers of Jesus grow in their relationship with God and live faithfully in everyday life.
Building on the foundation established in Volume One of the Following Jesus Series, this second volume explores six essential practices Jesus taught and modeled:
• Pray Continually - Develop an ongoing relationship with God through prayer. • Read and Obey My Words - Learn to hear God's truth in Scripture and put it into practice. • Worship God - Make worship a way of life that honors God in spirit and truth. • Remember Me Through Communion - Understand the meaning of the Lord's Supper and remember Christ's saving work with gratitude and reverence. • Kingdom-First Living - Bring every area of your life under the rule of Jesus and increasingly align your priorities with God's Kingdom. • Depend on the Holy Spirit - Learn to rely on the Spirit's presence, guidance, power, and transforming work in your daily life.
Each chapter combines accessible biblical teaching with Scripture insights, discussion questions, practical steps, reflection questions, and prayer, making the book useful for both personal study and group discipleship.
This is not a book about performing religious activities to earn God's love. God's grace comes first. Through Jesus Christ, we are forgiven, reconciled to God, brought into His family, and given the Holy Spirit. Spiritual practices are our response to that grace-ways we intentionally live within the relationship Christ has already made possible.
Whether you are a new believer establishing your spiritual foundation, a growing Christian seeking greater consistency, or a church leader helping others follow Jesus, Growing As You Follow Jesus will help you develop biblical rhythms that move faith beyond information into everyday practice.
You don't have to know everything to grow spiritually. You simply need to keep responding to Jesus' invitation: "Follow Me."
Open your Bible. Engage honestly. Put what you learn into practice. And discover what it means to keep growing as you follow Jesus.
