About

In October 1999, my wife and I decided to put our best friend, Sparky to sleep. I began to reminisce about all the crazy things the dog was involved in. As one who always enjoyed being a storyteller, I kidded my wife and told her that I was going to write the dog's memoirs. I began writing all the funny and crazy things the dog did over the 20 years he was with us. Sparky's stores were funny, serious and there was one story about Sparky saving my wife's life. As I was writing Sparky's stories, I began to really enjoy doing so.

After I finished writing about the events of Sparky, I began thinking about all the funny dog stories, other funny stories, and profoundly serious events I went through as a Postal worker. For years I told those stores to anyone who would listen. Since I enjoyed telling those stories, I decided to follow-up my dog stories with my personal stories, to include my military experiences.

In titling my book, I did so because I always resented the term, "Going Postal," mainly because the term implies dangerous or unstable people work for the Postal Service. However, as we have become to learn, there are crazies everywhere. With that in mind, I thought I would have a play on words and author a book, entitled "Going Postal", beginning with my military experience, to hopefully grab the attention of the prospective reader.

The stories in this book are funny, daring, disappointing, revealing, insightful, and entertaining. The stores also reveal racial sensitive issues I had to navigate. You will travel with me through Army basic training, advance infantry training, paratrooper jump school training, Special Warfare school, and challenging situations I met in Going Postal.
