At school, three students share almost the same name-and that is all it takes for a misunderstanding to spread.Alexandra Mayfield is warm, expressive, and easy to notice. Alex Rowe-who quietly goes by Alexia-keeps to herself, watching more than she speaks. Alexander Reef stands somewhere in between, observant and reserved, paying attention when others don't.When a handwritten confession appears, classmates quickly connect the dots the wrong way. Gossip forms around the most visible Alex, assumptions harden, and the truth is quietly pushed aside. No one means harm. Everyone is simply too sure of what they think they know.As rumors pass from desk to desk and hallway to hallway, Alexia steps back, convinced it is easier to disappear than to correct the story. Alexandra remains unaware of the role she unintentionally plays. And Alexander, trying to protect everyone, waits too long to speak. The novel follows the slow unraveling of those assumptions through awkward conversations, delayed honesty, and ordinary school days where silence has consequences. There are no villains-only timing, misunderstanding, and the quiet weight of being overlooked. From Alex to Alex is a contemporary young adult romance about gossip, identity, and how being seen too late can hurt just as much as not being seen at all. Told through small, everyday moments, it captures the humor, embarrassment, and quiet tenderness of growing up in the space between attention and invisibility.
