We have more information about God than ever before. So why aren't we becoming more like Him?
We have sermons at our fingertips, podcasts in our ears, books on our shelves, and Bible studies on our phones. Yet many of us still feel anxious, distracted, spiritually stuck, and frustrated by the distance between what we know and who we are becoming.
Maybe we don't need more information.
Maybe we need formation.
In Formation Over Information, Evan Herrman explores the gap between knowing the truth and actually being transformed by it. Drawing from Scripture, personal experience, and spiritual practices, he invites readers to examine what is shaping their lives and rediscover what it means to abide in Christ.
This is not a rejection of biblical knowledge or learning. Information matters. Truth matters. But information was never meant to replace intimacy with Jesus.
Throughout the book, you'll explore why knowledge doesn't automatically produce transformation, how constant input can make silence uncomfortable, why obedience matters more than simply knowing, and how prayer, fasting, solitude, surrender, waiting, and even disappointment can become places where God forms us.
At the heart of the book is the image of a sculptor. A masterpiece isn't created by continually adding more to the stone. The sculptor removes what doesn't belong until something beautiful emerges.
Perhaps God is doing something similar in us.
Our task is not to sculpt ourselves. It is to remain with the Sculptor.
Jesus said, "Abide in me."
You don't have to consume enough information to finally become the person God created you to be. You don't have to rush the process.
You are already being formed.
The question is: What-or Who-is forming you?
Formation Over Information is an invitation to step away from the endless pursuit of more and rediscover the slow, beautiful work of becoming more like Jesus.
You don't simply need more information about Jesus. You need a life formed by Jesus.
