First loves, dark pasts and fast cars collide in this high-octane thrill ride.
Managing editor of a Manhattan fashion rag, Eva Rodgers, couldn't believe she would ever step back into her old life, but the day her father called with his diagnosis, she had little choice. Returning home and to the past she left behind, Eva signs up as editor-in-chief of the struggling Portland magazine Rose City Review. There in the drizzling Portland metro, Eva still holds firm to the New York City values that defined her time there: compromise on nothing. When her European auto, one luxury she missed in the walking and hired car world of Manhattan, needs fixing, she doesn't compromise. Even when the best European auto mechanic her assistant finds turns out to be an ex with a vendetta, Eva doesn't flinch. Nathaniel Vellanova can't believe what the fuck just showed up at his garage. He'd gotten his life together, buried his dark past, and definitely put Eva Rogers in his rearview mirror. Right? But fuck him if she wasn't standing right there in the pouring rain needing his help. He'd do it-help her out-just this once, then forget all about her. Again. In this dark and suspenseful story of broken first loves, readers will ride the smoldering heat of high-octane fast cars, glitzy club fashion, and tainted love and ask themselves, are first loves the only love?
