Kestrel never meant to become a ThiefBut when the mysterious cult known as the Blood of Pantaleon held their midnight ceremony to allow those who had died to ascend to the heavens, Kestrel couldn't resist the temptation to watch the exciting ceremony. There was just one problem: he fell into the canyon and came out with wings.Living, actual, magnificent wings that would let him soar above the suffocating world below. There was just one problem: the wings weren't his, and the price of his freedom was higher than he ever imagined. Now the Falcon Prince is a fugitive, hunted relentlessly by the very people who transformed him. Every beat of his stolen wings brings him closer to the sky he's always craved, and closer to the vengeance of those who want them back. In a world where flight is the ultimate power, Kestrel has become the most wanted man alive.Enter Greer, an archer and tracker whose reputation for finding the unfindable has made her both feared and sought after. Hired to escort Kestrel to the distant Velidred Castle-a sanctuary where he might finally be safe-she quickly realizes this is no ordinary rescue mission. The Blood's agents lurk in every shadow, their network of spies spans the kingdom, and they'll stop at nothing to reclaim what was stolen. Greer must use every ounce of her cunning to keep them both alive, navigating treacherous terrain while keeping a winged prince grounded when every instinct tells him to fly. The journey to Velidred will test them both in ways they never anticipated. As the Blood closes in and the skies grow increasingly dangerous, Kestrel must choose between the wings that have given him everything and the people who've risked everything to help him. Some treasures are worth stealing. Some freedoms are worth fighting for. And some flights are worth taking, despite the dangers. In this breathtaking tale of pursuit and survival, the sky isn't the limit-it's the battlefield. Ken Brown is an application web developer by day and author by night.Over the years he has written short stories for his own enjoyment and started a couple of other books, but never had the fortitude to finish the books. Ken found himself distracted by work, family and other business ideas that he thought were more important than writing. But one day an idea came to him about a boy who wants to rescue a girl and finds that going through a cave he is transported to another planet. A planet where magic is real and the dangers of wild animals, strange people and bizarre customs are just as real. The book was inspired by a photograph Ken found on the Glacier National Park's website. A simple photograph of the photographer standing in a tunnel in winter in Glacier National Park, Montana. The image showed icicles hanging from the tunnel exit with large boulders hugging the wall behind. Looking at the boulders and rocks, Ken saw images of people, horses and a story developed of a boy searching out the Mountain King.A dream started to turn this fanciful world into a book and it led three years later to Ken's first published novel Eclipse of the Triple Moons.
