About

Flicker Twitcher is a historical fiction adventure thriller about "finding." Finding oneself, the family you may never have had, the love that has forsaken you; the ability to love others beyond appearances, wealth, and what they could provide, and the strength to risk death to go to the ends of the earth for people who are invisible to society-all wrapped up in a hero's journey panorama in a Prohibition-era, Jim Crow South Georgia.

With his father murdered in a revenge killing by the New Orleans mafia, Wheat Ballentine is forced to flee St. Louis and the family's whisky warehousing business, to South Georgia, to find his Creole mother, aware he is being followed. The cat and mouse game begins when he steals a corpse's identity, unaware he is now in possession of some dangerous U.S. government cinema technology that relates to crowd thought control, used to gain public sentiment to enter WW1, back in 1917, that was an experiment gone awry. Along the way, he starts a vaudeville act showing these dangerous silent movies, involving a rag-tag group comprised of an orphaned Gullah-Geechee boy, who just wants to be loved; a young, widowed sharecropper's wife running from the law, who wants to clear her name and reconnect with her siblings; and a lay preacher-pickpocket hypnotist with a gambling addiction seeking self-worth and redemption. This unlikely group of travelers bond with hope, despite serious misfortunes; but unknowingly play with fire that could shake Jim Crow communities to their troubled foundation. The search and the hunt begins.
