When a famous artist is found dead, and a painting done in his style used to stage the death was accidental, Lord Peter Wimsey must solve a murder with exactly six suspects, six local artists talented enough to have painted the fake, and with motive to kill the painter. Five of them are Red Herrings, but one is a murderer.
