About

Because of Eli Lilly's laboratory development, a baby girl has life on earth in 1957, born to very grateful parents. Shockingly, the father of this beautiful child makes a terrible mistake that plummets the entire family into an abyss that no one expected. Nothing is ever the same again. The daughter (the author) is challenged by her first-grade teacher who asks her, "Don't you even know your father's name?" She hears a Presbyterian pastor say, "God is our Father-call on him when in need." She does. God reacts. Everything changes because of this. This child fully believes that God is real. She believes everyone else believes the same. She listens for him. She is a common girl with an amazing burden of witness that must be told. Through the story of her life, told in sixty essays as a unique memoir, she bravely shares her three personal theophanies, and more! These are real moments: one with God acting; again, his holy voice revealing strength for her upcoming battle; then her own angel appears-her messenger with a promise. She is faithful and is catapulted into the Mennonite faith and a life that, unbeknownst to her, is an answer to her life's prayer years earlier. More than she ever imagined actually happened as God threaded and spun his gold accents through her life, continually gifting her things she prayed for but had surrendered as not possible.

Praise to God and gratitude for him are in every story. There's true drama in the mix, so consider this a warning. Consider this too: I have prayed for every reader to receive a blessing simply by turning the pages and reading this book.

I was almost finished writing and beginning to seek a publisher when I struggled for about five minutes with these impossible questions: Will anyone even care? Will anyone see the value in this? I left the computer keyboard and shuffled off, hoping to sleep. The truth is, I awakened to this very thought: "I gave you an incredible life, and you said nothing?" That was all my mind needed to hear. Questions such as these never entered the equation again.
