Fast Car

This story is a tribute to Tracy Chapman's song Fast Car, in the form of the passionate journey between Rafael and Chad. Rafael is Hispanic and grew up on a ranch in Arizona. Chad is Anglo and grew up in Las Vegas. They notice each other in a college class at UNLV and begin their journey together. During the Christmas holiday at Rafael's family ranch Rafael asks Chad to marry him, and Chad tells Rafael he wants a Fast Car, to be someone, be someone. They arrive at their wedding on horseback and put on a horseback show, to begin their journey being someone. At their wedding, Chad's sister offers to be their surrogate mother as her wedding gift, so their child will share both families' genetic and cultural heritage. Their horseback show and surrogacy gains them celebrity status, with TV interviews and stars on social media. When the surrogacy results in the birth of twins, they must decide if being someone is best being fathers to their son and daughter.
