What if the moments that once made you question who you were are the very things God is using to remake you?
In Establishing a Fresh Identity, Dr. Dionne Vance opens her life to tell that story, rejection, broken relationships, legal trouble, divorce, financial hardship, loss, and illness, alongside education, leadership, and hard-won healing. It begins with a desperate prayer and moves through every season that followed, testing what she believed about herself, her future, and her faith.
An old oak tree. A baptism in the river. An empty house. Nights spent alone in a church office. A hospital room that changed everything. Each place marks a turning point in a transformation still unfolding.
This is not a story about forgetting the past. It is about discovering that the past does not have to define what comes next.
With unflinching honesty and a firmly Christian perspective, Dr. Vance writes about obedience, forgiveness, purpose, resilience, and leadership, and about the quiet, ongoing courage it takes to become the woman God is still shaping her into.
If you have ever wondered whether your hardest seasons could become the foundation of something new, this is a story worth sitting with.
