Hers is a name most known by its initials: BBZ. Hers is a catalog of wisdom that outweighs the most durable bookshelf. Hers is an enthusiasm for denominational understanding that awes the most loyal UCCers: Barbara Brown Zikmund. Barbara Brown Zikmund has impacted the self-image of the United Church of Christ with a lifetime of deep theological and historical work. Her knowledge of who and why we are as the UCC-and her appeal for our continued discernment of God's call upon the denomination-is unparalleled. With Embracing Our Roots, a selection of BBZ's writing offers us the opportunity to delve into our theological heritage-not merely the themes but the practices that construct the UCC, from act of faith that we call General Synod to thespiritual discipline of building unity across division.
