Somehow the message of Jesus as a reconciler of all people has been bungled by the American church. Labels like racist, homophobic, misogynistic, anti-intellectual, and partisan are how the church has come to be portrayed in today's media. But these descriptors couldn't be further from the truth of who Jesus is.
Through this rich and raw collection, we are taken inside the minds of some lesser-known followers of Jesus from Scripture. Prepare yourself for a paradigm shift as their experiences correct the noisy clanging of post-Christian culture and catalyze you into a life-changing relationship with Jesus.
If you are a justice-minded person who longs for the disruption of a culturally radical Jesus, this book is for you. Even if you've been holding the Church at arm's length, there is a sense of coming home in these stories. Each encounter highlights a would-be disciple, interrupted by an authentic Jesus who bestows value in surprising ways.
This book will help you to: Feel more seen, understood, and less aloneMeet an authentic Jesus who is strikingly different than the one portrayed in a post-Christian culture and mediaUse your imagination while engaging with the mystery of scriptureFind permission to stand as a follower of Jesus without having to align with a messy church cultureRediscover your value and remember that you belong (just as you are)
