About
In the tranquil Harz village of Leuterspring, two strange deaths occur in quick succession: a homeless person freezes to death in front of the church on a bitterly cold night and a 92-year-old woman is the victim of a fire in her house. Since there are no recognizable signs of the use of force and at first glance, no connection can be, made between the deceased, the authorities refrain from further investigations. Only parish priest Jörg Ebeling believes that both people were murdered. Because of his persistence, he and his girlfriend, the responsible public prosecutor from Goslar, get caught in an ongoing dispute. Because even the much younger woman sees no need for action. The love affair of the two is not a lucky star anyway. So far, Ebeling has avoided a clarifying conversation with his wife, and also, takes on the church council. Since the deaths do not leave him in peace, the pastor starts investigations on his own. Gradually he brings together every single piece of the puzzle that he comes across into a picture behind which a decades-old story of repression and cover-up opens up. He finds out the identity of the homeless dead man and thereby gives him back his lost dignity. And, he tracks down a murderer, while the prosecutor still sees no reason to act.
