About

This study guide continues the series by focusing on the Orthodox Churches. It examines various doctrines of this denomination and compares them with the Scriptures and with Christ's church, which He established in the first century. Special attention will be given to the early councils, which convened between A.D. 325 and 787, where many Orthodox canons, considered "Holy", Divine", and "Authoritative" were generated by the bishops attending those councils. These "holy canons" continue to be honored as authoritative revelations and doctrines that guide the Church in its work and worship of God to this day. However, when compared with New Testament guidelines, they reveal something else. Something, it seems, that few are aware of, that does not align with God's will. This study guide condenses the material from a sourcebook by the same name into 13 lessons, with questions posed to stimulate discussion on these Orthodox beliefs and practices, either for individual, Bible class, or group study. It is hoped that this discussion will lead to a deeper understanding of this denomination, which appears to be gaining prominence among today's denominations.
